Reality is being fine-tuned to present us with an idealistic view of people's lives and the world around us.

Content creators are doing this to gain popularity, likes and for some, financial gain. This phenomenon was once predominantly confined to the worlds of media, advertising and government, but with the maturation of the internet, and in particular social media, it has become mainstream.

Deep-down we know that much of what's presented to us is not representative of reality, yet we willingly consume it, and in some cases, actually start to believe this altered-reality to be true. With objective facts having become less influential than appeals to emotion and personal belief, how do we differentiate between fact and fiction in this post-truth era?
